AL is also helping the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry reach out to Japanese people. We train staff in presentation and public speaking skills, to help them deliver more effective workshops and tailor their teaching to their audience’s needs and interests.

AL is a member of the “Adult Special Skillset” project, a workshop that emphasizes business skills that was requested by nearly 1000 companies including Toyota, Shiseido.

Our work with the Japanese government also focuses on reinventing education in the classroom. We are assisting the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology in implementing active learning methods in our schools and enabling our students to have the best learning experience possible.

AL also assists the government in work outside of Japan.

The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is supporting developing countries by sending Japanese specialists to assist in everything from infrastructure to education. We’re honored to have been part of this mission and have been sent to many countries across Asia and Africa, including Cambodia, China, Singapore, Philippines, Burkina Faso, among others.

JICA ran evaluations after three years of the implementation of a development program and found no sustainable success. In spite of the large amounts of money spent, advising was passive and the local people had no incentive to take initiative and think creatively after the initial resources were exhausted and the first phase was over.

At Active Learning, we believe that financial resources need to be paired with efficient and engaging advising. In order for JICA’s envoys to help efficiently, they need to be active advisers who can leave a long-lasting mark on their advisees. This positive effect must be sustained after the specialists leave the country and the people need to be motivated to carry on the work they’ve started and reach higher levels of success. That is where we come in. We help JICA specialists use the active approach and thus make greater and longer lasting impact.

Active Learning wants to move people, inspire them to find their own calling, and motivate them to customize what they learn to their own ends and in their own way. We want to use our expertise and technological innovation to help make these local workers masters of their own business and thus of their own destiny. They will no longer be reliant on the government and their business will no longer be contingent upon grants.

The most rewarding part of our job is hearing our advisees express their appreciation for the workshops and tell us about the ways in which they have used the active learning way to open new doors and make their business better.
